Russell Johnson’s son, Justin Johnson, served for 11 months in Thailand and Burma. During his time in Myanmar, he gained a deep respect for several key leaders. Among the finest is Robinson Mana—a teacher, visionary leader, and preacher who has spent more than 20 years training preachers and planting churches throughout Northern and Eastern Myanmar.
While Justin was sharing updates with Russell, God was already moving. Unknown to him, CY Kim, Founder of CRAM Worldwide, and Russell had been praying about how CRAM could engage in Myanmar. At the same time, Robinson’s heart was stirred to begin a new work in Central Myanmar, near the nation’s capital, an area filled with “unreached people” where you can travel over 100 miles without seeing a single church.
Robinson is now discipling 22 future preachers, with a vision to plant dozens of new churches in the years ahead. After much prayer, CRAM Worldwide’s Board has invited Robinson to serve as our Field Director in Myanmar. Together, our prayer is that this partnership will lead to 100s of new preachers trained, churches planted, and 1,000s coming to know Jesus Christ.
Early in our conversations, Robinson shared something remarkable: “Russell, we have a connection you may not know. Over 50 years ago, your grandfather baptized my father, a leader among the Rawang people. Years later, your uncle, LaVern Morse, attended my wedding.”
God has been preparing this partnership for decades, and now the time has come. We are excited to share the journey!
Join us in prayer as we embark on this exciting new chapter for CRAM Worldwide. Pray as we search for land that God provides the perfect property at a fair price, and pray for safety as we move forward in a land that is sometimes hostile to the gospel.
Robinson and his wife, AChan Pungsan, are from the Rawang Tribe. They have three children: Amy, Carey Kang, and Wang J.
Robinson’s family background was spirit worship (Nat worship), but in 1993, American missionaries—including the Morse family—shared the Gospel with the Rawang people. His father believed and was baptized by J. Russell Morse, and their family embraced the Good News of Jesus Christ.
According to the stories that reached our Rawang people, the message that “Jesus is the God who conquers spirits and demons” was excellent news for my father and our relatives. They had not been worshipping spirits out of genuine belief but had been making offerings and sacrifices out of fear of the trouble the spirits might cause. They were excited to hear the Truth of God’s Word and to follow the path of the one true God and His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ.
Today, Robinson continues that legacy of faith. His oldest brother attended Cincinnati Christian University, and Robinson studied theology at Lincoln Christian University. Robinson served two terms as President of the Myanmar Bible Institute and now leads the Myanmar Christian Seminary in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar’s new capital city. In just a few months, they have helped establish nine churches and launched a seminary with 20 students—marking the first Church of Christ/Christian presence in the new capital.
CRAM Worldwide, Inc. exists to share the love of Jesus with the people of Asia by meeting their physical needs.
